Progress and a thought or two
No pictures, but I was able to do some work on a couple of the munnys today. Things are coming along quite well. After I finish these five for the client, I plan on starting work in a Kickstarter.
I took a few minutes to look back over some old work of mine, and I find myself not impressed with my sculpting and painting. Have I improved? Yes. Do I still have a ways to go? Yes. I want to look back in 3-4 years and see even more improvement.
I think a lot of people look at artists and think they live a great life of freedom to do what they want. I only do this part-time and it doesn’t make me feel cool or liberated in any way. It’s hard to explain it, but you get a sense of desperation when things take longer than you would like, or if something you make doesn’t turn out how you envision it in your mind. I don’t think I could handle being an artist full-time. So, those of you who are…I commend you. Don’t give up.
